Sailor Moon and Me

Originally posted 11-23-2010

I just found out last night from a good friend of mine, another local Pro Domina, MsMadyson DeLaRough, that my I share a name with a character from the japanese anime cartoon "Sailor Moon".   I tried to remember why that name sounded familiar, and then I remembered that a long time ago, a friend of mine's boyfriend was obsessed with that show and he'd mention it occasionally.  MsMadyson googled my name and it came back with the usual stuff for me, but also has ties to thousands of Sailor Moon websites.

When my guy found out, he said "Oh, honey! I'm so sorry!" But, I thought it was funny.  I've been known by this name for over 10 years, and this is the first I've heard of it, so, it's not too big of a problem, apparently.

As you can probably guess, Storm Kincaid is not my real name.   I don't like my real name, and never use it.  As another local domina once told me "Whenever someone uses my real name, all I can think is: Who's calling me and why am I in trouble?"  She hit the nail on the head with that one.  Whenever I go to Starbucks, or order a pizza, or any time someone asks for my name, Stormy just rolls off the tongue.  When I have to give my "other" name, it takes me a second to get it out because I never use it.

Here's how I got my name: Stormy was a nickname that a boyfriend I had for a few months when I was 19 years old gave to me.  I called me that because I was enthralled with thunderstorms and rain and because I had a bad temper.  Kincaid is an old family name from generations ago.

I’m actually of fan of sailor moon and it took me a while to place the name. Saeko Yamamoto/ Stormy Kincaid was a character in the anime that lasted one episode, was never mentioned again, and played no major role in the overall series. I can see how it could muddle internet searches with all the abandoned sailor moon fan pages out there.

While the name was chosen simply to rename the character for the English dub in 1994, you chose your name based on thoughtful symbolism you associated with yourself. You are Stormy Kincaid and our beloved Mistress Storm.
